Ranam (2006)

Ranam was choreographer Amma Rajasekhar's first film as director and one of the hits that established Gopichand as a solo action hero after his villain roles. Gopichand plays a cheerful young man from an old Hyderabad neighbourhood who falls in love with a girl played by Kamna Jethmalani. Her family is ruled by a dangerous gangster, played by Malayalam actor Biju Menon, and the love story soon becomes an all-out battle ("ranam" means war). Mani Sharma's songs and the hard-hitting action made it a success in 2006.
