Ranuva Veeran (1981)

A brave army man returns to a village that lives in fear of a violent outlaw, and decides to protect the villagers and, with the help of the local people and a spirited young woman, sets out to break the bandit's hold. Ranuva Veeran, meaning army hero, is a Tamil action film by S. P. Muthuraman, Rajinikanth's most frequent director, and is notable for pairing Rajinikanth with Telugu star Chiranjeevi, who plays the villain, a rare sight in their careers. Sridevi plays the heroine.
