Rathasaatchi (2022)

Rathasaatchi ("blood witness") follows Appa, a young revolutionary who turns to armed struggle after seeing the exploitation of poor farmers and labourers in rural Tamil Nadu, and the police operation that sets out to capture him. The film moves between his story and the people around him, asking how idealism turns to violence and how the state answers it. It is based on a story by the Tamil writer Jeyamohan, and Kanna Ravi plays the lead with intensity. A serious political drama rather than an action film.
