Rathnakara is a short-fused young man in Bengaluru who takes his loving adoptive mother for granted. When he discovers that he was adopted, his comfortable world tilts, and he goes looking for his birth mother, a journey that takes him to a village in north Karnataka and into the lives of people very unlike himself. Along the way he collects an unlikely companion and a family he did not know he had. Rathnan Prapancha ("Rathnan's world") is a warm comedy-drama by Rohit Padaki that gave Dhananjaya a change from his intense roles, with veteran Umashree in a moving part. It was released directly on a streaming platform in 2021 and won a strong following.
