Chandu comes from a large, cheerful family and has a habit of helping friends marry the people they love, whatever their parents think. During one such rescue mission he ends up whisking away the wrong woman: Pooja, who is fleeing a forced marriage arranged by her two uncles, rival strongmen who each want her to marry into their side. Chandu falls for her and, instead of running, decides to take the fight into the uncles' own household, with an elaborate deception built around a hapless chartered accountant called McDowell Murthy. Ready was a major hit for Ram Pothineni and director Srinu Vaitla, and Brahmanandam's McDowell Murthy is one of his best-loved comic roles. It was remade in Kannada as Raam, in Tamil as Uthamaputhiran and in Hindi as Ready (2011) with Salman Khan.
