Red Alert: The War Within (2010)

Narasimha is a simple man struggling to support his family, so he accepts work as a cook for a group in the forest without fully understanding who they are. He soon learns that he is serving a Naxalite cell, armed revolutionaries at war with the state, and finds it impossible to leave. Trapped between the rebels, the police and his own conscience, he sees both the idealism and the brutality of the conflict up close. Red Alert: The War Within is inspired by a real story and gave Suniel Shetty one of the most serious roles of his career, supported by a large cast of respected actors. Directed by actor-filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan, it played at several international festivals and was praised for presenting the Naxalite insurgency without simple heroes or villains.
