Ribbon (2017)

Sahana and Karan are a modern Mumbai couple, both working, both ambitious. When Sahana finds herself pregnant unexpectedly, they decide to keep the baby, and the film follows the very ordinary, very real strains that follow: an employer that sidelines her, money worries, childcare, the tiredness and resentments of new parenthood. As their daughter grows, a disturbing discovery forces them to confront a danger they never imagined. Ribbon is a quiet, observational drama about middle-class parenthood and the pressures on working women, carried by the natural chemistry of Kalki Koechlin and Sumeet Vyas. It was the feature debut of director Rakhee Sandilya.
