Suraj, a simple and strong man, marries Komal, the daughter of a rich and ruthless businessman who never accepts the match. Her father engineers their separation, and Suraj is left to bring up their son on his own, working whatever jobs he can find. When the boy needs an expensive operation, Suraj agrees to fight in brutal contests for money, while Vaijanti, a feisty fisherwoman who loves him, stands by him. Indra Kumar's emotional family drama is built around Anil Kapoor's devoted father, with Karisma Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty as the two women in his life and Amrish Puri as the hard-hearted father-in-law.
