Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1961)

Dev Anand, the suave star of so many crime capers, plays a man drawn into the world of thieves and robberies, while Waheeda Rehman, his favourite co-star of the period, plays the beauty of the title whose own path crosses his. The film was one of the most expensively mounted Hindi productions of its day and Shankar–Jaikishan wrote the songs. Despite its scale and stars it disappointed at the box office, but it remains an entertaining example of the glossy crime adventure of the early 1960s. Director H. S. Rawail later made the classics Mere Mehboob and Laila Majnu.
