Sanju and Tanvi are young, urban and full of opinions about love. They meet, flirt and fall into a relationship, and the film follows them through the ordinary rhythm of modern romance: the jealousies, the misunderstandings, the friends with advice and the families who do not know what is going on. Instead of villains or big external obstacles, the tension comes from the two people themselves and the way each reads the other wrongly. Routine Love Story was an early lead role for both Sundeep Kishan and Regina Cassandra, who went on to work together again. Director Praveen Sattaru, who later made the action film Garudavega, keeps the tone conversational and realistic, and Mickey J. Meyer's soft music suits the mood.
