Rubaai (2017)

Rubaai ("rupee") is a Tamil drama directed by M. Anbazhagan, who earlier made Saattai. Chandran, who had made his name in Kayal, leads the cast with Anandhi as the heroine. As the title suggests, money is at the centre of the story, which follows ordinary working people whose lives are thrown into danger and hard choices when cash changes hands. It is a modest, grounded film in the realist vein of small Tamil dramas of the period.
