Arjun Prasad is a wealthy and generous businessman, raised by a kind woman who took him in after he was found injured years ago with no memory of his past. When business takes him north, people begin recognising him as someone else entirely: Dharma, a tough police officer who once stood up to a powerful and violent local strongman. As fragments return, he must confront what Dharma left unfinished. Ruler reunited Balakrishna with K. S. Ravikumar after Jai Simha and is a full-blooded mass film with two looks for the star, songs by Chirantan Bhatt and loud punch dialogues. It had a weak box-office run but delivers the trademark Balakrishna style for his fans.
