Sachein, the carefree son of a wealthy family, enrols at a college in Ooty and promptly falls for Shalini, a sharp young woman who has no time for him. Confident and a little arrogant, he challenges her: within thirty days she will admit she loves him. What begins as a game of wits and pranks, cheered on by friends, slowly becomes something serious as both discover how much they are hiding. Sachein is a light, song-filled romantic comedy that showed a softer side of Vijay between his action hits. It was Bipasha Basu's first Tamil film, Devi Sri Prasad's songs were popular, and it opened on the same Tamil New Year in 2005 as Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi.
