Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded (2009)

Sagar alias Jacky is the stylish, untouchable smuggler Mohanlal first played in the 1987 cult classic Irupatham Noottandu. Decades later he is a global operator, and he flies into Kerala when he learns that a family connected to his past is under threat from a criminal network with friends in high places. What follows is a game of power plays, betrayals and slick confrontations in which Jacky always seems to be one move ahead. Director Amal Neerad, who began as a cinematographer, gave the film a glossy, slow-motion look inspired by Hollywood action films, very different from the original. Original writer S. N. Swamy returned for the story, and Gopi Sundar's swaggering theme music became one of the film's best-known elements.
