Sahara (1995)

In 1942, after the fall of Tobruk, an American tank commander, Sergeant Joe Gunn, and his crew find themselves cut off in the Libyan desert. Along the way they pick up a mixed band of stragglers, British, French, South African and Sudanese soldiers and an Italian and a German prisoner, and search desperately for water. At a ruined fort with a nearly dry well, the small group decides to make a stand against a far larger German force that is just as thirsty. This television remake of the 1943 Humphrey Bogart classic Sahara was directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith and shot in Australia, with James Belushi in a rare action-hero role.
