Rajinikanth Muralidharan, a young engineering graduate, falls for Leela, a friend of his sister who comes to stay with the family. He plans a long motorbike trip with a friend and Leela agrees to come along, and the first half unfolds as a tender, music-filled romance on the open road. Then a sudden accident changes everything, and the couple find themselves hunted by people with powerful backing, forcing a quiet young man to find a ruthless courage he did not know he had. Gautham Menon shot the film alongside its Tamil twin, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada with Silambarasan, and A. R. Rahman's soundtrack, especially the song Vellipomaakey, was a major hit. It was Manjima Mohan's Telugu debut, and singer Baba Sehgal appears as a villain.
