Saint-Pierre et Miquelon La 1ère is the public radio and television service for France's small North Atlantic archipelago just off Newfoundland, and it is part of the Outre-mer La 1ère network run by France Télévisions. On radio it behaves like a proper hometown station: a 7am bulletin to start the working day, a midday news at 12h30, and a long open-line hour mid-morning where islanders phone in and say what they think. The rest of the schedule leans into music and memory, digging through the archipelago's own sound archives and letting listeners choose the record that means the most to them. It all goes out in French to a population of only a few thousand, so the register is familiar rather than formal, closer to a neighbour talking than a newsreader reading. Everything is streamed and offered as podcasts too, which is how islanders living in Canada and mainland France keep up.
