Shakthi works as a trekking guide in the hills of Ooty. Months after his girlfriend leaves him, she writes asking him to come to Bangkok. When he arrives, she is nowhere to be found, and strangers start treating him as someone else: a powerful businessman. Soon he is caught in a dangerous game whose rules he does not understand, played by two rich men, J. D. Chakravarthy and Manoj Bajpayee, who toy with other people's lives for amusement. Samar is a twisty, glossy action thriller for Vishal, shot largely in Thailand, with Trisha as the woman who may hold the key. Manoj Bajpayee's appearance was among his rare Tamil roles.
