Akash grew up in a small hill town with his grandfather and fell in love with his schoolmate Shruti, but life and ambition took him to the city and a corporate career. Years later, a phone call brings him back home, and the memories, and the feelings, come flooding back. As he reconnects with Shruti, he learns that much has changed and that time may not be on their side. Sanam Re is an old-fashioned, music-led romance with scenic locations and a soft, tearful mood. Rishi Kapoor appears as the hero's colourful grandfather, and the title song, sung by Arijit Singh, became one of the big romantic hits of 2016.
