Sankeerthana (1987)

Sankeertana is a 1987 Telugu musical romance directed by Geetha Krishna, starring Nagarjuna, then in the early years of his career, with Ramya Krishnan. It tells a love story rooted in music and poetry, about a young man devoted to song and the woman he loves, set against the obstacles of society and family. The songs, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, are the heart of the film, and it is remembered as one of Nagarjuna's early attempts at a sensitive, music-led role.
