Four brothers live together in a large, loving joint family held together by the eldest, who has given up much of his own life for the others. As the younger brothers marry and new personalities enter the household, misunderstandings, ego clashes and a bitter outsider strain the family bond, and the eldest brother is left trying to keep his home from breaking up. Sankranthi, named after the harvest festival that celebrates family, is the Telugu remake of the Tamil hit Aanandham. It brought together Venkatesh, Srikanth and a young Sharwanand as brothers, and became a major family hit, with S. A. Rajkumar's songs much loved.
