Sapthamashree Thaskaraha (2014)

In a prison cell, a mixed bunch of small-time crooks and wronged ordinary people find that they share an enemy: a powerful, crooked businessman in Thrissur who has cheated each of them. Once out, they decide to settle the score by robbing him on the day he hosts a grand celebration. The plan is ambitious, the team is clumsy, and almost everything that can go wrong does. The story is narrated as a confession to a priest, which gives the film its playful, gently ironic tone. Sapthamashree Thaskaraha ("seven respectable thieves") was the debut of Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, who went on to make North 24 Kaatham, and it was a hit with its witty dialogue, ensemble comedy and Rex Vijayan's music.
