Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022)

Mahesh grew up watching his parents ruined by a debt they could not pay, and now runs a strict money-lending business in the United States, where he never lets a loan go unpaid. He falls for Kalavathi, a charming student who borrows heavily from him and then refuses to return the money. To recover it, he flies to Visakhapatnam to confront her father, Rajendranath, a powerful businessman and politician, and the personal dispute turns into a fight over the huge bank loans that the rich default on while ordinary borrowers are punished. Sarkaru Vaari Paata ("the government's auction") pairs Mahesh Babu with Keerthy Suresh for the first time. S. Thaman's song Kalaavathi became one of the most popular Telugu songs of 2022, and the film was a big summer hit.
