Sathyam is an honest, no-nonsense police officer in Chennai who goes after a powerful criminal network and the people protecting it, while also falling for Divya, played by Nayanthara. The case turns personal, and Sathyam has to fight both the criminals and the people inside the system who shield them. Upendra, the Kannada star, appears in an important supporting role, giving the film a cast drawn from three industries. Produced by Vishal's own family banner, it was made as a Tamil–Telugu bilingual and released in Telugu as Salute; Harris Jayaraj composed the music. The film is pure 2000s police masala: big fights, chases and songs, with Vishal at the height of his action-hero image after Sandakozhi and Thimiru.
