Description

An episode of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, which ran on ABC from 1952 to 1966 and is the longest-running live-action sitcom in American television history. Its oddity is that the Nelsons played themselves: Ozzie and Harriet had been a real bandleader and his singer, they were married, and their sons David and Ricky grew up on screen across fourteen seasons. Ozzie wrote, produced and directed most of it, and almost nothing ever happens — the plots turn on a misunderstanding about a lawnmower — which is precisely the appeal. Ricky Nelson became a genuine rock and roll star partway through, and the show started ending with him performing. Season 1, episode 4: "The Fall Guy".
