Satyendra, a shy government-job aspirant from Kanpur, is introduced to Aarti through their families, and their arranged meeting slowly becomes a genuine romance. Aarti, though, dreams of a career, and on the night of the wedding she makes a choice that humiliates Satyendra and his family. Heartbroken and furious, he throws himself into study and becomes an IAS officer. Years later their paths cross again, with Aarti now a civil servant facing a corruption inquiry and Satyendra in a position to decide how it ends. Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana ("do come to the wedding") is a small-town romantic drama that tackles dowry, family pride and women's ambitions. It was the debut of director Ratnaa Sinha, and its songs, especially "Pallo Latke", became wedding favourites.
