Shirdi Sai tells the story of Sai Baba, the saint who lived in the village of Shirdi in Maharashtra and became revered by Hindus and Muslims alike. The film follows his arrival in the village, his simple life in the mosque he called Dwarakamayi, his message of faith, patience and the oneness of God, and many of the miracles devotees associate with him, along with the people whose lives he changes. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, it was the third devotional film pairing him with Nagarjuna after Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu. Nagarjuna's restrained portrayal of the saint was widely appreciated, and M. M. Keeravani's devotional songs became popular with Sai devotees.
