Shorts is an anthology of five independent short films brought together for a theatrical release with the backing of Anurag Kashyap. Each story stands alone, with different directors and styles, but they share an interest in people living on the edges: their subjects include harassment, loneliness, a relationship gone stale and the daily grind of life on the margins of the city. The cast includes several actors who became stars soon after, among them Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Qureshi, both fresh from Gangs of Wasseypur. Neeraj Ghaywan's segment Shor came before his acclaimed debut feature Masaan, and the anthology was an early showcase for the new wave of Hindi independent filmmakers.
