Mudit and Sugandha meet through an arranged match in Delhi, fall shyly in love and get engaged. Then, on a nervous attempt at intimacy before the wedding, Mudit discovers he suffers from erectile dysfunction. What should be a private matter quickly becomes a family affair, with relatives, quack remedies and wedding preparations colliding in increasingly absurd ways as the big day approaches. The film is a gentle comedy about male anxiety and the Indian habit of everyone minding everyone else's business, while staying sweet about the couple at its centre. It is R. S. Prasanna's remake of his own Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Saadham (2013), produced by Aanand L. Rai. It reunited Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar after Dum Laga Ke Haisha, and led to the 2020 follow-up Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
