Boss is the moneylender every Malayalam film producer fears: flashy, funny, mad about cinema and utterly merciless when a loan is not repaid. When a powerful film producer and a crooked police officer cross him, Boss begins a campaign of humiliation and pressure that seems far out of proportion to the money involved. The reason lies in his past, in a Tamil village and a man called Iyyanar, and the second half reveals what really drives him. Shylock is an unashamed mass entertainer built around Mammootty's swagger, with a stream of film references and punchlines. It was the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor Rajkiran.
