Simmasanam (2000)

Simmasanam ("throne") is a Tamil village drama built around Vijayakanth, who plays a respected figure at the centre of a family and a community. Rivalries over status and land pull relatives apart, and he is forced to fight to protect both the people who depend on him and the dignity of the family name. Khushbu and Manthra play the women in his life. The film belongs to the run of rural family-action dramas that Vijayakanth headlined around the turn of the millennium, mixing sentiment, fights and songs. It is known in Hindi as Kuladhikari.
