Solah Somvar (1977)

Solah Somvar ("sixteen Mondays") takes its name from the vrat in which devotees, often young women, fast on sixteen consecutive Mondays in honour of Lord Shiva. The film tells a story of faith tested and rewarded in the manner of the devotional hits of the 1970s, with bhajans at its heart. It stars Upendra Trivedi, a leading figure of Gujarati stage and screen, with Anjana and Rajni Bala. Details of its makers are not widely documented.
