Solo is an anthology of four stories, each centred on a different man played by Dulquer Salmaan and each linked to one of the elements and an aspect of Shiva. The World of Shekhar is a love story between a stammering young man and a blind dancer; The World of Trilok follows a man seeking revenge for his wife; The World of Siva is a gangster tale set in Mumbai; and The World of Rudra concerns an army officer whose romance meets opposition. Director Bejoy Nambiar, known for Shaitaan, made the film in Malayalam and Tamil, and each story has its own look and mood, with music from several composers. It was ambitious and divided audiences, but Dulquer's range across four roles was widely noted, and the soundtrack found a loyal following.
