Sowkarpet (2016)

In Sowcarpet, a crowded old trading quarter of Chennai, a wealthy family's past catches up with it. A woman, played by Raai Laxmi, who was wronged and killed returns as a spirit seeking vengeance on everyone involved, and a series of possessions and rituals turns the family home into a battlefield between the living and the dead, with Srikanth caught at the centre. Directed by V. C. Vadivudaiyan, Sowkarpet is a commercial Tamil horror film in the revenge-ghost mould, relying on special effects, songs and Raai Laxmi's screen presence.
