Sreemurugan (1977)

Sreemurugan is a 1977 Malayalam devotional film from director P. Subramaniam, a veteran of the mythological genre in Malayalam cinema. It retells episodes from the legend of Lord Murugan (Subramanya or Kartikeya), the son of Shiva and Parvati, from his divine birth to his role as the commander of the gods against the demons, in the stage-influenced, song-filled style of devotional films of the period. Ravi Kumar and Usha Kumari head the cast. It is best approached as a classic devotional picture made for family viewing.
