Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba (2009)

Meena plays Tarigonda Vengamamba, the celebrated Telugu poet and devotee of Lord Venkateswara who lived in the 18th century. Widowed young, she refused to live by the harsh customs imposed on widows and devoted herself to worship and writing, facing ridicule and hostility from the society around her. The film follows her spiritual journey to Tirumala, where her devotion is still remembered: the tradition of offering her harathi to the Lord continues at the temple. A devotional biopic with many songs in praise of Venkateswara.
