Star (1982)

The hero is a young man from a middle-class family who wants only one thing: to become a pop star. His family thinks he is wasting his life, the music business is not interested, and the woman he loves comes from a different world. The film follows his struggle to keep faith in himself while everyone around him tells him to give up. It was one of Kumar Gaurav's films after his huge debut hit Love Story (1981), and although it did not repeat that success, its soundtrack became a landmark. Composed by the London-based producer Biddu and sung by the Pakistani sibling duo Nazia and Zoheb Hassan, songs like Boom Boom and Ooi Ooi were among the biggest disco hits in South Asia in the early 1980s.
