Staying Alive (2012)

Two middle-aged men who have survived heart attacks end up in the same hospital room. One is loud, irreverent and determined to enjoy life whatever the doctors say; the other is anxious, careful and convinced he has played by every rule. Confined together with little to do but talk, they argue, tease each other, reveal their regrets and gradually become friends, each changing the other's view of how to live with the time left. Director Anant Mahadevan also plays one of the two leads opposite Saurabh Shukla, and the film is essentially a two-hander that rests on their conversation and comic chemistry. It is a small, gentle film about mortality and friendship, told largely within the four walls of a ward.
