Surang (1953)

Surang ("tunnel") is a 1953 Hindi film associated with V. Shantaram, the director of classics such as Do Aankhen Barah Haath and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, made under his Rajkamal Kalamandir banner in Bombay. It stars Sheila Ramani, best known for Taxi Driver (1954), and Chandrashekhar, who later became a familiar character actor. Like many Rajkamal films of the period, it is a socially conscious drama, and it is of interest to anyone exploring Hindi cinema of the early 1950s.
