Tara and a stranger meet in Corsica and agree to spend a few days together without sharing anything true about themselves: he calls himself Don, she calls herself Mona Darling, and they play at being characters in a film. Years later Tara finds him again in Delhi as Ved, a dutiful product manager living a neat, joyless routine, and she realises the man she fell for exists only when he stops pretending to be normal. Her rejection forces Ved to face the boy who once loved the stories told by an old storyteller in Shimla. Tamasha is Imtiaz Ali's most personal treatment of his favourite theme, finding oneself through love. A. R. Rahman's songs, including Agar Tum Saath Ho and Matargashti, were hugely popular, and the Corsica sequences were shot on the island itself.
