Selva is a hard-working young man building a small travels business in Chennai and hoping to marry the woman he loves. One night a violent attack on a powerful gangster sets off a turf war, and through a chain of coincidences the blame falls on Selva. With both the gang and the police closing in, he has to work out who really planned the attack and why, while keeping the people close to him alive. Magizh Thirumeni, who had earlier made Mundhinam Paartheney, gives the film a lean, fast pace and a grounded tone, and Arun Vijay's intense performance was widely praised, giving his career a lift after a lean patch. It was also the Tamil debut of Rakul Preet Singh. The success of the film led to the director and actor teaming up again for Thadam in 2019.
