Tamizh lives a comfortable, carefree life with his parents in Chennai. A college romance with the stylish Hema ends badly, and he later settles into an arranged marriage with Yamuna, which turns out to be loving and happy. Then a scandal at his father's government office throws a shadow over the family's name, and Tamizh, who has never had to take responsibility for anything, has to find out what really happened and stand up for the people he loves. The film reunited Dhanush with director Velraj and composer Anirudh after their hit Velaiyilla Pattathari, and was produced by Dhanush's own company. It is a gentle, middle-class family drama rather than an action film, with an affectionate father-son relationship at its centre.
