Thani Oruvan (2015)

Mithran, a young IPS officer, believes that most crime in the city connects back to a few powerful men, and that bringing down the one at the top would stop hundreds below. His investigation leads him to Siddharth Abhimanyu, a celebrated scientist and charming public figure who secretly runs a vast network of corruption, and who has been watching Mithran from the start. What follows is a cerebral cat-and-mouse game between two equally clever men, with each move countered by the other. Mohan Raja's thriller was a major hit and marked a striking comeback for Arvind Swamy, whose suave villain won wide acclaim. It was remade in Telugu as Dhruva (2016), and Hiphop Tamizha's music suited its brisk pace.
