The Ghazi Attack (2017)

On the eve of the 1971 war, Indian naval intelligence learns that the Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi has been sent to the east coast, where it could destroy the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and choke the port of Visakhapatnam. The Indian submarine S21 is sent to find it. On board, its aggressive captain Ranvijay Singh and the rule-bound Lieutenant Commander Arjun Varma clash over how far to go, while the crew struggle with depth charges, mines and failing systems in the dark. The Ghazi Attack is inspired by the real sinking of the Ghazi off Visakhapatnam and was billed as India's first underwater war film. Shot in Telugu and Hindi, it won the National Award for Best Telugu Feature Film, and Taapsee Pannu plays a refugee rescued at sea.
