Ramachandra is a young lawyer who wants to take on cases that matter. He takes up the case of Vasu, a young man jailed eight years earlier for the murder of a cab driver, and becomes convinced that the conviction was a mistake. To reopen it he has to retrace the night of the killing, find witnesses who have scattered or been bought, and stand up to the police officer who closed the case. With Brahmaji as his comic sidekick, he pieces the truth together step by step. Thimmarusu is a Telugu remake of the Kannada thriller Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni (2019), itself inspired by a Korean film, and it gave Satyadev one of his best-received lead roles. The title refers to the legendary wise minister of the Vijayanagara court.
