Tholu Bommalata ("Leather Puppet Show") is a 2019 Telugu family drama. Rajendra Prasad plays a well-loved head of family whose death brings his scattered children and grandchildren back to the ancestral home for the funeral rites. Over the days that follow, quarrels over property, old grudges and a young couple's romance play out, and the family is forced to reckon with what the old man meant to them. The title evokes the traditional shadow-puppet art of Andhra, a metaphor for people moved by forces they do not control. The film rests largely on Rajendra Prasad, a veteran of Telugu comedy and character roles.
