Topiwala (2013)

Topiwala is a Kannada political satire built around Upendra's familiar screen persona: sharp-tongued, eccentric and impossible to predict. The title refers to the cap-wearing politician, and the film takes aim at corruption, black money and the cosy arrangements between netas and the people who bankroll them, with Upendra's character turning the system's own tricks against it. Bhavana plays the female lead and P. Ravi Shankar is the main antagonist. The film was directed by M. G. Srinivas. It is a loud, talky, deliberately provocative entertainer that will appeal most to viewers who enjoy Upendra's brand of satire.
