Prabhu, a Tamil student in Bengaluru, falls in love with Rithika, whose father is an influential politician. With days to go before she turns eighteen, the couple run away, and her father hires ACP Manoj Menon, a hard-nosed encounter specialist, to bring her back quietly. The film becomes a chase along NH4, the Bengaluru-Chennai highway, with Prabhu's friends covering for him and Menon closing in, while his own family life frays under the job's pressures. Written and produced by Vetrimaaran and directed by his associate Manimaran, the film is a tense, realistic road thriller. Kay Kay Menon, in his Tamil debut, was widely praised as the cop, and G. V. Prakash Kumar's music added to its pace.
