Ashok and Julie have been inseparable friends since childhood, sharing everything without a hint of romance, and his athletic ambitions are as much hers as his. When Ashok falls in love with Nandini and the two families meet, his closeness to Julie becomes a source of suspicion and hurt, and he has to prove that friendship between a man and a woman can be just that. Vikraman, the Tamil director known for gentle, song-filled family stories, made the film alongside his Tamil version Priyamana Thozhi, with the same theme and a different cast. Venkatesh, then at the height of his run of family hits, plays the sincere hero, and S. A. Rajkumar's melodies were a big part of its appeal. It is a soft, clean family entertainer with no villain beyond misunderstanding.
