Velayudham is a good-natured milkman from a village who comes to Chennai to arrange the wedding of his beloved sister Kaveri. Bharathi, a crusading journalist, has invented a fictional vigilante called Velayudham to give the city hope against a terrorist conspiracy, and when a series of accidents makes the milkman look like that hero, he is forced to live up to the legend. Vijay plays the role in his trademark blend of comedy, family sentiment and action, with Santhanam supplying the laughs. The film was directed by M. Raja, known for his remakes, and borrows ideas from the Telugu film Azad. It was a Deepavali hit in 2011, with Vijay Antony's songs widely played.
